Accident Injury 01 300PADUCAH, Ky. (4/10/13) – At 8:59 AM on April 10, 2013, the McCracken County Sheriff’s Department responded to a two vehicle injury collision Old Mayfield Road at the intersection of Rosewood Drive. It was reported that the two vehicles collided head on and were blocking the roadway.
 
The investigation showed that a 1996 GMC Pickup, driven by 36-year-old Dewayne L. Fike, of Paducah, was southbound on Old Mayfield Road when he attempted to reach for an item on the passenger side of his vehicle. Fike then swerved into the northbound lane and struck a 2001 Chevrolet Pickup, head-on, driven by 24-year-old Andrew D. Hobbs, of Paducah as he was traveling northbound.
 
Fike was incapacitated due to his injuries and was transported to an area hospital with multiple, serious injuries.
 
Hobbs was transported by a family member to an area hospital for what appeared to be only minor injuries.
 
As a result of the investigation of the collision, Fike was cited to court for the following offenses:
–Operating a Motor Vehicle Under the Influence of Alcohol or Drugs 1st Offense,
–Operating on a Suspended or Revoked Operator License,
–No Registration Plate,
–No Registration Receipt.
 
Additional criminal charges are pending as the investigation continues.
