PADUCAH, Ky. (4/11/13) – At approximately 9:14 AM on Thursday, April 11, the McCracken County Sheriff’s Department responded to a three-vehicle injury collision at the westbound 11 mile marker on Interstate 24.
The investigation showed that a 1998 Pontiac Sunfire, driven by 19-year-old Brandon W. Martin, of Benton, KY, was westbound on Interstate 24 when traffic was slowing in front of him for roadway construction. Traffic began to slow or stop quickly and Mr. Martin had to slam on his brakes. Due to the wet roadway surface, Mr. Martin’s vehicle slid and collided with a 2012 GMC Acadia operated by Richard L. Bizzieri, 64-year-old, of Bumpus Mills, Tennessee. The collision then caused Mr. Bizzieri’s vehicle to slide and collide with a 2007 Honda Accord operated by 53-year-old Mark B. Hill, also of Benton, Kentucky.
Mr. Hill was transported by a family member to an area hospital for what appeared to be only minor injuries.
Mr. Martin was not injured during the collision and refused treatment. Mr. Bizzieri and his two passengers, Nicolas E. Bizzieri, 28-year-old, and Lana K. Bizzieri, 62-year-old, were also not injured and refused treatment.
The McCracken County Sheriff’s Department was assisted at the scene by Mercy Regional Ambulance Service and B.A.’s Towing Service to clear the collision scene.
