LowerTown Arts & Music Festival This Weekend

lowertown arts 300PADUCAH, Ky. (5/13/13) – The 2013 LowerTown Arts & Music Festival will be held this weekend, May 17-19, in Paducah. The festival hours are May 17, 3-10 p.m.; May 18, 10 a.m.-10:30 p.m.; and May 19, noon-5p.m. Admission is free.
 
The event brings more than 15,000 to the LowerTown neighborhood in Paducah. The event is held on Madison between 5th and 8th Streets and on 6th and 7th Streets between Harrison and Monroe Streets. Those who live in the festival area are asked to move their cars from the streets beginning Thursday morning through Sunday evening.
 
Attendees will enjoy a variety of musical entertainment organized by the Paducah Symphony Orchestra on the festival’s two stages, food vendors, children’s activities, 65 juried artists, Art Cars in which artists use cars as canvases, and the Top Potter Showdown, a competition among potters with potters wheels set up in the middle of the street.
 
The festival was selected as one of the Top Ten Spring Festivals in Kentucky by the Kentucky State Tourism Bureau in 2012 and 2013. The LowerTown Arts & Music Festival is produced and coordinated by the LowerTown Neighborhood Association. Michael and Victoria Terra are the event co-directors.
