PADUCAH, Ky. (6/21/13) – The Paducah Police Department is warning citizens of a phone scam.
Several elderly citizens have informed the Police Department that they have received calls from a toll free number with the caller claiming to represent the Federal Reserve. The caller has the citizen’s name and phone number and even has called one unlisted number. The caller says that the Federal Reserve is holding a check in the citizen’s name for $950,000.
Residents are reminded to be extremely careful when dealing with such contacts and to provide no personal information or money up front. Please remember the saying that if it seems too good to be true, it probably is.
