Accident with Injuries on Cairo Road

accident w injuries redPADUCAH, Ky. (8/1/13) – On July 31, 2013 at approximately 5:16 PM, Deputies were dispatched to an injury accident in the 6800 block of Cairo Road just parallel to Pugh’s Midway.

On arrival, deputies located two vehicles that appeared to be involved in a rear-end collision. Investigation showed that 57-year-old Tina Apperson of Kevil, KY was operating a 1999 Toyota Corolla northbound on Cairo Road when she had stopped awaiting traffic to make a left turn into Pugh’s Midway. At the same time, 22-year-old Justin Troutt of West Paducah was traveling north bound on Cairo Rd as well in a 2000 Chrysler sedan when he was distracted in his vehicle and reaching into the passenger floor board to retrieve and item. Mr. Troutt stated he looked up and observed Apperson stopped and could not stop in time before making contact with the rear of Apperson’s vehicle.

Investigation showed, Troutt was distracted and not under proper control of his vehicle. Troutt was also operating on an expired operator’s license out of Illinois.

Deputy Cory Golightly assisted at the scene and cited Mr. Troutt for Operating on an expired Operator’s License.

Larry Meadow’s and Concord Fire Dept also assisted at the scene.

Mrs. Apperson was transported to an area hospital for non-life threatening injuries.
