WKCTC Offering Self-Defense Class for Women

wkctcs 300PADUCAH, Ky. (8/16/13) – West Kentucky Community and Technical College is offering women a way to learn how to protect themselves with a two-part self-defense training course beginning next month.

Self Defense for Women will be held on September 10 and September 12 from 5:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. in the Emerging Technology Center, room 141.

Instructor John M. Driskill is the Founder and President of Driskill Tactical Training that provides training opportunities for police officers, security officers and civilians who want to learn defensive techniques and enhance their skills to defend themselves, their facilities or their homes.
 
Defense techniques taught during the course sessions include;
• pressure point control;
• passive release and escapes;
• defensive counterstrikes;
• disarming;
• escape from choke, headlock and rear grab;
• defense from ground position.

Disclaimer: if a student has physical limitations all techniques may not be taught to every student. Instructor will gauge the physical abilities and aptitude of each student.
