McCRACKEN COUNTY, Ky. (8/28/13) – The McCracken County Sheriff’s Department was dispatched at 9:26 a.m. to the intersection of US60 west and Kelley road for a report of a two-vehicle collision with injuries.
The investigation showed that 95-year-old William Hughes from West Paducah was traveling northbound on Kelly road in his 2009 Chevrolet Impala. He stopped at the stop sign at the intersection of US60 west. Hughes stated that he looked both ways but did not see the westbound 2007 Jeep Compass driven by 40-year-old Michelle Shaw.
As Hughes crossed US60, he struck Shaw in the driver’s side causing her vehicle to leave the road and overturn and come to rest on its’ side in the ditch.
Both Hughes and Shaw were transported to Baptist Health by Mercy Regional for possible minor injuries.
Assisting on scene was the West McCracken Fire Department and Randy’s towing.
