daviess co fiscal 300OWENSBORO, Ky. (9/20/13) - The Daviess County Fiscal Court gathered last night to discuss and vote on a number of local developments, including the installation of a new traffic signal, maintenance at a local park, and new county vehicle equipment.

According to Kentucky Transportation Cabinet spokesperson, Keith Todd, a new traffic signal is scheduled to be installed near Hwy. KY 54 as a safety precaution.

"There has been an increased traffic count according to a survey which met the warrants for a signal," Todd said.

The signal will be installed in the upcoming weeks with weather permitting. It will flash for a number of days to alert drivers of its existence. A press release will be distributed regarding the exact time and date the signal will go in to effect.

Panther Creek Park will also see some improvements in the near future. The Park will undergo renovations to fix dangers such as pavement cracks and other hazards on the property. The Park will also install new "GameTime" playground equipment for two playgrounds from the State bid list.

Bids were then awarded for one new 2013 or 2014 Custom Cab Pumper, a 5,000 capacity truck-mounted water distributing system, and one used John Deere 670 (or equivalent) motor grader.

Judy Dixon was appointed to the OMPC Board of Adjustments on Aug. 8. Jonathon Carroll was appointed to the Owensboro-Daviess County Library on Sept. 13. Polly Reynolds was appointed to the Owensboro-Daviess County Library on Sept. 13. Jim Hendrix was appointed to the Industrial Development Authority on Sept. 19.

The Fiscal Court meets at 5 p.m. on the first and third Thursday of each month in the Daviess County Fiscal Courtroom.
