WIRELESS OUTAGE 300

WESTERN KENTUCKY (10/8/13) — AT&T was optimistic that wireless services would be restored quickly. That "the glass is half-full" approach proved to be right one as service was working again early Tuesday evening.

An AT&T spokeswoman indicated that service should be restored Tuesday evening or as late as Wednesday. Fortunately for those that use their wireless as their only telephone service, it was the sooner rather than the latter.

According to Madisonville Police Department, seven of eight towers were affected by the outage and that shut down 911 service to wireless customers. Wireless service interruption was reported in Bowling Green, Princeton, Hanson to Earlington and as far east as Ohio County.

SurfKY News contacted AT&T media liaison Cathy Lewanoski, who made the following statement:

"Some Western Kentucky area AT&T customers may be experiencing issues with wireless voice and data service. We are working to resolve the issue as quickly as possible. We apologize for this inconvenience."

WESTERN KENTUCKY (10/8/13) — If you're an AT&T wireless customer and have no service, you're not the only one in the dark. Towers up and down U.S. 41A from Hanson to Earlington are out.

According to an AT&T spokesperson, multiple towers in the area are degraded and were scheduled to be updated Tuesday, Oct. 8. Repairs were expected to be complete by late Tuesday night or Wednesday.

Seven of the eight AT&T towers that cover the Madisonville area are affected, according to the Madisonville Police Department. That means there is no 911 service to wireless customers.

Reports to SurfKY News also include wireless outages in Princeton and Bowling Green.
