greaseGREENVILLLE, Ky. (2/28/14) — GREASE is the word, and Muhlenberg High School is the place, March 7,8 and 9 at Felix E. Martin Jr. Hall.

The production is based on the smash Broadway play, and the blockbuster movie that racked up almost $400 million. According to spokesperson David Probst, this version is a major effort, complete with a live band made up of local adult and student musicians, a multi-level stage set constructed by school personnel, and all the characters and songs you love.

Originally set to hit the stage the weekend of Valentines Day, the play has been rescheduled and the huge set assembled and then disassembled and removed to make room for The Miracle Worker on February 27.

Probst told SurfKY News that this is a more family friendly version than some may have seen.

"Some of the scenes and lyrics have been revamped to make this version something I would have no problem bringing my five-year-old daughter to see. The lead players include Eli Meece, Deanna Oglesby, Ryan Phillips and Ciara Cobb, with a guest cameo by Thad Mayhugh, our Outreach Director.  

Ron Corbin, facilities manager for Martin Hall, said he is proud of what he and his crew accomplished in building by hand the many stage platforms, stairs, and handrails.

"It's been a huge task to assemble, but we have really accomplished what the advisers wanted, "Corbin said. "We have some sets on wheels,  to roll them out, and then back off the stage. I'm quite proud of the sets. It is quite a big production."
