dcps3 300OWENSBORO, Ky. (3/19/14) — “Shrek The Musical," based on the Oscar winning DreamWorks film that started it all, brings the hilarious story of everyone’s favorite ogre to dazzling new life on the stage at Daviess County High School this week.

In a faraway kingdom turned upside down, things get ugly when an unseemly ogre, not a handsome prince, shows up to rescue a feisty princess.

Throw in a donkey who won’t shut up, a bad guy with a short temper, a cookie with an attitude and over a dozen other fairy tale misfits, and you’ve got the kind of mess that calls for a real hero.

Luckily, there’s one on hand and his name is Shrek.

Show times are at 7 p.m. Thursday, Friday and Saturday, March 20 - 22; and a 2 p.m. matinee Saturday, March 22.

Children are invited to a special “Swamp Party” at 12:30 p.m. Saturday, to meet the characters and enjoy games, food and fun. Ticket prices are $15 for adults; $8 for students in grades K-12. Children younger than kindergarten age are admitted free.

The cast includes the following main characters:

  • Princess Fiona – Shelby Miller

  • Donkey – Braxton Swanagan

  • Lord Farquaad – Joe Miller

  • Pinocchio – Hunter Simms

  • Gingy – Emily Selby
