Street Level Investigations Produce Seven Arrests

mccracken sheriff 02 300MCCRACKEN COUNTY, Ky. (4/11/14) — McCracken County Detectives arrested several individuals after a two day street level investigation Thursday, April 10.

According to the McCracken County Sheriff’s report, the department received complaints call Tuesday, April 8 alleging Melanie Brock, 34, of Paducah to be involved in prostitution. When Brock was contacted by a deputy acting as an undercover capacity, she admitted to performing sexual acts in return for money.

In addition to the prostitution charges, Brock was also charged with outstanding warrants for violating probation on a prior cocaine charge. She is currently being lodged in the McCracken County Jail.

Later that day, McCracken Detectives stopped a vehicle in a high crime area of Paducah. The vehicle was occupied by Katrina Snelling, 25, of Calvert City, DeAndre Patterson, 25, of Paducah and a small child.

Snelling was arrested for an outstanding felony arrest warrant for failing to pay child support. Detectives also arrested Patterson for seven individually bagged baggies of crack cocaine packaged for sale.

The child was released to a family member under the direction of social services.

As the investigation continued through the night, detectives stopped another vehicle occupied by Shomari Reed, 40, of Fredonia. During the stop, Reed struggled with detectives and swallowed an unknown quantity of cocaine.

Reed was then arrested and transported to the hospital. The next day, Wednesday, April 9 detectives and hospital staff recovered several small bags of suspected cocaine that Reed passed while in the hospital.

Reed remains in the hospital under supervision and will eventually be transported to jail once he is released. Currently the county is paying for his long hospital stay, but will seek restitution from Reed.

Reed is currently on felony parole for trafficking in cocaine from a 2011 conviction. He is also charged with trafficking in cocaine, second offense and tampering with physical evidence.

Also on Tuesday, April 8 detectives stopped another vehicle occupied by Desmond Hale, 22, of Paducah on a felony probation violation warrant. He was charged for felony violation warrant-underlying charge promoting contraband.

The next day, Wednesday, April 9 detectives obtained information alleging Gary Taber, 58, of Paducah was staying at the Country Hearth Inn motel and was wanted on a felony probation warrant from previous cocaine conviction.

Through surveillance, detectives observed Taber leave the motel with female and conducted a traffic stop on his vehicle. Taber was observed moving around in the vehicle before it was stopped.

During the search, detectives revealed a quantity of marijuana that Taber allegedly threw out before the stop. The passenger was later identified as Donna Harnice, 67, of Kevil.

As part of the investigation, the couple’s motel room was search and detectives located two bags of cocaine, additional marijuana, smoking pipes, syringe, and other assorted drug paraphernalia.

Taber was charged with tampering with physical evidence, possession of marijuana, possession of cocaine, third offense, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Harnice was charged with facilitation to possess cocaine, marijuana and drug paraphernalia.

Both are currently lodged in the McCracken County Jail.
