Friends of Lake Malone Busy Hiding 1,500 Easter Eggs

Lake MaloneDUNMOR, Ky. (4/18/14) — The Friends of Lake Malone State Park are hosting an Easter Egg Hunt Saturday, April 19, at the state park's upper pavilion near Dunmor.

Tammy Forgy works as treasurer for the Friends of Lake Malone, a nonprofit group that is working to bring events to the park throughout the year.

"We'll have over 1,500 eggs hidden this year," Forgy said. "Each egg will be filled with candy. We're also making Easter egg baskets as well. Sack hop, hula hoop contest, jump rope contest, egg toss, and hip pity hops. All the fun starts at noon."

Forgy added that the highly successful Lake Malone monthly yard sales will continue through the summer months.

"I believe the flea market is becoming a more successful event," Forgy noted. "We have had a huge increase in traffic to our Facebook site since we began having these this year. We welcome anyone to join us online at Lake Malone on Facebook. Each yard sale is held on the first Saturday of the month through Nov. 1. The cost is $5 for a booth. The time is 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the park's campgrounds. You must bring your own tables. No guns are allowed."

For those who want to get an early start on this Saturday's egg hunt, Forgy noted that the park's campgrounds are now open for first come, first serve primitive camping and RVs. Reservations can be made by logging on to Kentucky's Lake Malone State Park.

"Future events also include the Fishing With a Kid Day coming in June," Forgy said. "And, the biggest event of the year is always our Lake Malone Halloween Bash at the end of October."
