Paducah School Bus Accident Leaves Five Children, Two Adults in Hospital

accident injuries amb 300PADUCAH, Ky. (5/14/14) — Emergency responders were dispatched to an injury accident involving a McCracken County school bus at the intersection of US 62 and Blandville Road.

The investigation showed Joshua White, 22, from LaCanter was driving a 1967 Ford Mustang when his car hydroplaned causing him to cross the center line, striking the bus head-on. After the vehicles collided, the school bus ran off the right shoulder of the road coming to rest in the ditch. Police said speed was not a factor in the collision, but it may have been weather-related.

Seven children were taken to Lourdes Hospital, as well as the driver of the bus, Mary Emerson, 31, and White. The age range of the children on the bus was six to 10 years old. All injuries were considered minor.

School officials were on-site and notified the parents of the students who were affected.

The roadway was open to traffic soon after the accident was cleared.
