Bikes on Broadway Scheduled for July 13

bicycle riding 300PADUCAH, Ky. (7/7/14) — Pack your bicycle and come out this Sunday, July 13 for Bikes on Broadway sponsored by Paducah Parks Services and BikeWorld.

This is the seventh year for the free event which closes a stretch of Broadway in Paducah to vehicular traffic. From 1 until 4 p.m., bring your bicycle, skates, skateboards, scooters, tricycles, strollers or running shoes for a fun day of strolling and riding along Broadway.

Vehicular traffic will not be permitted on Broadway between 4th and 17th Streets allowing for a safe riding environment for people-powered vehicles. Also, many of the side streets are not heavily travelled and are great for exploring; however, caution is encouraged as these streets will not be included in the barricaded area.

BikeWorld will be set up at 17th Street to provide mechanical help and other assistance. Motorists can cross Broadway with the assistance of volunteers at the intersections of 9th Street and 13th Street.

Bikes on Broadway will be held the second Sunday of each month through October. Additional 2014 dates are August 10, September 14 and October 12.

For more information about Parks Department events and activities, visit the Parks Services Department at 1400 H.C. Mathis Drive, visit the website www.paducahky.gov or call (270) 444-8508.
