Trish-EdwardsTrish EdwardsPADUCAH, Ky. (8/18/14) — Trish Edwards, Chest Pain Center coordinator at Baptist Health Paducah, recently became the region's only Certified Cardiovascular Care Coordinator through the Society of Cardiovascular Patient Care.

Edwards, a former paramedic at Mercy Regional EMS, joined Baptist Health Paducah as a paramedic in the Emergency department and Chest Pain Center in 2007. In 2013, she became the Chest Pain Center coordinator and led the facility through its third consecutive national accreditation.

She holds an associate degree in Emergency Medical Technology-Paramedic from Pima College in Tucson, Ariz., and an associate in arts degree from West Kentucky Community and Technical College. She is currently pursuing a nursing degree from Excelsior College.

Edwards has made it a personal mission to educate people about Early Heart Attack Care, "deputizing" hospital and community volunteers who demonstrate they can recognize heart attack symptoms and pledge to call for immediate help.

Founded in 1998, SCPCP is a nonprofit international organization dedicated to reducing cardiac deaths and disease worldwide.
