MCCRACKEN COUNTY, Ky. (9/4/14) — On Sept. 3, 2014, at approximately 3 p.m., deputies were sent to the I-24 bridge in the eastbound lane for the report of a stalled vehicle.
Prior to McCracken County Deputies arriving on scene, Kala Bonnell, 32, and her passenger, Natalie Bonnell, 13, operating a 2003 Escalade, both of Golconda, Ill., noticed the stalled vehicle in the eastbound lane and attempted to stop to avoid striking the stalled vehicle; Bonnell was able to stop prior to striking the stalled vehicle. Iris Garrott, 59, of Paducah, traveling in her 1999 Saturn, was behind Bonnell, but was unable to stop in time and struck the Escalade.
Iris Garrott was transported to Western Baptist Hospital for non-life threatening injuries.Deputies were assisted by Concord Fire Department, Massac Fire Department, Massac EMS, Illinois State Police, and Sullivan's Towing.
