traf accident 300OWENSBORO, Ky. (5/22/13) – Charges are pending in the investigation of a one-vehicle auto accident on U.S. Hwy. 431 involving a pickup truck reported stolen Tuesday morning, according to the Daviess County Sheriff’s Office. The driver, a 35-year-old Greenville man, was injured.

Authorities said Mark Johnson was apparently driving south “at a high rate of speed” in the 6500 block of U.S. 431 after 8 a.m. yesterday when his vehicle apparently ran off the right side of the road, traveled approximately 200 feet, and struck a guardrail. It then flipped and continued approximately 150 feet on its top before heading down an embankment, where it came to final rest on its wheels.

Authorities said Johnson was ejected from the vehicle during the accident.

According to the Daviess County Sheriff’s Office, Owensboro Police were contacted at 8:30 a.m. by a man who called to report his truck stolen. Deputies said the man had gotten out of the truck for a moment and that when he returned, the truck was gone.

The Daviess County Sheriff’s Office and Owensboro Police Department are continuing the investigation.
