Ohio County Fiscal Court Takes Part in GRADD Survey

blue moonOWENSBORO, Ky. (4/22/13) – Ohio County Fiscal Court is seeking to identify low- to moderate-income residents who have homes in need of significant repairs.

GRADD is working with local officials to submit a Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) application to fund the rehabilitation of up to ten existing houses within Ohio County.

“We want all our residents to live in decent, safe and affordable housing,” said Ohio County Judge/Executive David Johnston. “And this grant would be a significant step in the right direction.”

To be eligible for assistance, local homeowners must: reside in the structure proposed for rehabilitation, possess a deed/title in the name of the homeowner, and meet income guidelines (e.g., below $36,101 annual gross income for a household of four).

Applications will be accepted through Friday, May 7.

CDBG is a competitive grant process, so any assistance is contingent upon the Fiscal Court securing funding. Homes will be inspected to determine the scope of necessary repairs and to establish a potential client prioritization list.

The Kentucky Department for Local Government (DLG) administers approximately $25 million annually from the U.S. Department of Housing & Urban Development’s (HUD) CDBG program, with $2.8 million allocated specifically for housing projects across the Commonwealth.
