Emerge Owensboro Selects Top Project

emerg oboro2 300OWENSBORO, Ky. (4/30/13) – “Connecting Generations of Leaders” was the winning project presented by 29 up and coming leaders in the Greater Owensboro community. The Emerge Owensboro leadership development class presented their final projects on Thursday, April 25, to their classmates and a panel of judges, including Daviess County Fiscal Court Judge Al Mattingly, City of Owensboro Mayor Pro Tem Debbie Nunley, and Old National Bank Community President Wade Jenkins.
 
Presented by the team of Holly Castlen of RWRA, Russ Evans of OMU, Mary Higginbotham of the Owensboro Convention Center and Teresa Thomas of the Hines Center, the winning project set goals to connect current Emerge Owensboro participants with past Emerge Owensboro and Leadership Owensboro graduates in a mentoring program.
 
Castlen said the proposal would allow the opportunity for growth in the number of leaders within the community.
 
“The mentoring program will connect all these generations of leaders that we’ve developed by assigning a new class member with a mentor from the alumni base to allow an expansion of the strong leadership network in Owensboro,” said Castlen.
 
Thomas agreed, noting that growth in leadership is essential.
 
“Owensboro’s greatest assets are its leaders. It is crucial to the future of Owensboro that the classes of Emerge Owensboro and Leadership Owensboro be connected in order to accumulate resources we need to continue to grow,” Thomas said,
 
“We were pleased with all of the projects. They were timely, addressed key issues in our community, and were done with a high level of quality. We are excited though to move forward with the ideas of implementing a mentoring program for our Emerge Owensboro and Leadership Owensboro alumni group and new class members, and hope to facilitate with the induction of the new class this fall,” said Amy Jackson, Chamber President and CEO.
 
The 2012-2013 Emerge Owensboro class will celebrate their graduation from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.on May 16 at the RiverPark Center Courtyard. The graduation ceremony is sponsored by Western Kentucky University-Owensboro and WKU Professional Masters in Business Administration program. The graduation ceremony will also include a reception for all Emerge Owensboro and Leadership Owensboro alumni to attend.

The Emerge Owensboro Program is a joint program of the Greater Owensboro Chamber of Commerce and Economic Development Corporation. Its focus is on educating and engaging individuals to reach their potential and maximize their impact in the community.
