deer auto collision red 01DAVIESS COUNTY, Ky. (5/10/13) – A 32-year-old Utica man was killed and a female passenger in his vehicle was injured as the result of a collision with a deer at 9:25 p.m. Thursday night. According to the Daviess County Sheriff’s Office, the deer first struck a northbound vehicle as it came onto the east side of the road. Authorities said the deer then ran into the southbound lane, where it struck a 1997 Honda Accord driven by Brad Critchelow. The impact pushed the into the vehicle’s windshield, which caused Critchelow to exit the west side of the highway. His car came to final rest in a nearby field. The driver was transported to the Owensboro Health Regional Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The female juvenile passenger, Macy Critchelow, age 5, was also transported to Owensboro Health Regional Hospital with minor injuries. Police said Critchelow was wearing his seatbelt and the juvenile was properly restrained in a booster seat in the back seat of the vehicle. Alcohol is not believed to have been a factor in accident, and the unidentified passengers of the northbound vehicle were not injured.
