BARDWELL, KY (12/16/11) – A Carlisle County woman has been criminally charged following an investigation into a fatal school bus crash which occurred May 16th of this year.
The crash took place on US Highway 62 near the community of Cunningham in Carlisle County. A school bus carrying elementary children back from a field trip crashed resulting in the death of Logan Simpson. Kentucky State Police began an investigation into the collision which lasted nearly 6 months.
On Thursday, December 15th, a Carlisle County Grand Jury indicted 58-year-old, Anita Roach, in connection with the crash. Roach, an Arlington resident, was driving the bus at the time of the collision.
Roach was charged with the following:
•1 count of Manslaughter 2nd Degree
•2 counts of Assault 2nd Degree
•3 counts of Assault 4th Degree
•19 counts of Wanton Endangerment 1st Degree
•3 counts of Obtaining a Controlled Substance by Fraud (doctor shopping)
Roach was arraigned in Carlisle Circuit Court on Thursday and was released from custody on a $2000.00 bond. The investigation is ongoing by the Kentucky State Police.
