PADUCAH, KY (12/29/11) – At 7:39 AM today, Thursday, Dec. 29, 2011, McCracken County Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to the 12-mile marker east bound on I-24 for an accident with injuries.
Once on the scene, Deputies found that 63-year-old Cathy Sutton from East Point Georgia was traveling eastbound in the slow lane. At the same time, 40-year-old Rita Cain was traveling eastbound in the passing lane, preparing to overtake Suttons vehicle when, for unknown reasons, the 2007 GMC driven by Cain went off the left shoulder of the interstate into the median. When she brought the vehicle back onto the interstate, Cain struck the rear of Sutton’s 2007 Lexus, causing her to spin out, coming to a final rest partially in the median facing the opposite direction.
Sutton was taken to Western Baptist Hospital for complaints of pain in her back and neck after she was freed from the wreckage by the Reidland Farley Fire Dept.
The traffic on the interstate was interrupted for approximately 30 minutes while the collision was cleaned up.
