marijuana arrest 300PADUCAH, KY (1/4/11) - The McCracken County Sheriff's Department's Drug Division arrested three men on Tuesday night on Marijuana related offenses. Two of the men were Paducah residents and the third was from Bowling Green, Ky.

Detectives with the McCracken County Sheriff's Department began conducting a drug investigation approximately two weeks ago after receiving information that the men were involved in distributing marijuana. Through the course of the investigation, detectives learned that the three men would be delivering a large quantity of marijuana to an individual on the parking lot of a Paducah business located at 538 Lone Oak Road in McCracken County.

Detectives conducted surveillance in the area and observed the men arrive on the parking lot on Tuesday night at approximately 9:31 pm in a black SUV. Detectives and Sheriff Deputies conducted a stop on the vehicle. Two men were located inside the vehicle (James B. Weatherspoon and Donald Shaw) and placed them under arrest. A third man, Christopher Ware, was observed inside the business and then attempted to leave the area on foot before being stopped by deputies.

During a search of the vehicle detectives seized more than four (4) pounds of Marijuana with an estimated street value of over $5,000. During a search of the men detectives seized several hundred dollars in US currency believed to be proceeds of illegal drug sales.

Weatherspoon was on felony probation at the time of his arrest for firearm enhanced drug trafficking.

All of the men were lodged in the McCracken County Regional Jail.
