MUHLENBERG COUNTY, Ky. (5/1/13) – Muhlenberg County has had many restaurants over the years, but for some reason, there has never been a complete Taco Bell restuarant anywhere in the county. There was one, several years ago, that was inside a local gas station. Now, however, that's about to change.

Nikki Devine, a spokesperson for Paxton & Ball Inc., headquartered in Hartford, Kentucky, says the famous name in Mexican food could be open in Central City at 1409 Western Everly Brothers Boulevard, "in a week or so. It depends on different things." Final touches are still being put on the building, and inspections are not all completed. So an exact date can't be announced just yet.

As the new store open, the current building on the property that has been a Marathon station for years will soon see the wrecking ball.

Devine said the current gas station/convenient store will be leveled and will be moved to a portion of the Taco Bell building. "This will also make room for 13 gas pumps, including diesel." Devine noted, adding that when the Taco Bell and all those pumps are installed "they may have to put a stop light here."

Devine explained she has talked to the police about controlling traffic during the initial rush, "and they have said if needed, they would help us out."

"Our current Marathon customers coming in are very excited about it, and we're excited about it." Devine said.

Paxton & Ball owns numerous Marathon locations and other businesses throughout the region, and will now have three Taco Bells. The others are in Beaver Dam and Leitchfield.

"They are also thinking of putting in a fourth Taco Bell in Hardinsburg." Devine added.

With all those Muhlenberg taco lovers waiting for the big opening day, job hunters take note. They are taking applications for employment.
