domestic violence month 300OWENSBORO, Ky. (10/22/13) - Owensboro Community and Technical College will host a Domestic Violence Awareness Workshop Thursday, Oct. 24.

The workshop will examine the question, "Why do people stay with abusers?" and will emphasize "escape routes" for victims. Representatives from OASIS, the Daviess County Sheriff's Department, Lighthouse Counseling Services and New Beginnings will participate.

The event is sponsored by WISE (Women in Support of Education). WISE is conducting a winter clothing drive for OASIS in conjunction with the workshop. Drop off boxes are in the Learning Resource Center and

Humanities Building. WISE also is collecting donations of used cell phones for the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence. Phones may be dropped off at circulation desk of the OCTC library.

The workshop is scheduled for 12:30 p.m. to 1:45 p.m. in the Chandler Conference Center on the college’s main campus. For more information, contact: 270-686-4506.
