duncancenter 300GREENVILLE, Ky. (11/22/13) — The merger of the Duncan Cultural Center Museum and Art Gallery with the Muhlenberg County Public Library are a "win-win" situation, according to Greenville Mayor Ed DeArmond.

The City of Greenville agreed recently to gift the Center to the county library system, and he library board has voted to accept the proposal.

"The Duncan House lived off of city funds, along with an endowment from the estate of Mrs. Karhryn B. Snider." DeArmond told Surfky News.

DeArmond noted that those funds were about to run out at the end of 2013.

"Our first and only choice," DeArmond said, "was to gift the center to the library in hopes that they would see the benefits of having the Duncan Center in their possession. After a few revisions they accepted the offer and we transferred the property this past week."

The Duncan House was donated to the city of Greenville in 1986 by Hamiltion Richardson Duncan. The home was constructed in 1912.
