Owensboro City Hall will be closed New Years Day Wednesday, Jan. 1 all day. It will reopen Jan. 2.

The Owensboro Museum of Science and History will host ‘Noon Year’s Eve’ 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Dec. 31. Kids and family members can come early for face painting and the chance to make their own noise maker and party hat. Mitch Luman, Director of the Koch Science Center and Planetarium will have the “Fun with Nitrogen” show at 11 a.m. Then, at around 11:45 a.m., there will be a big countdown to noon and a balloon drop, as families welcome the New Year a few hours early. Celebrate New Year’s Eve at the RiverPark Center for ‘Goldie’s New Year’s Eve Reunion Spectacular’. Goldie comes back after a 5 year retirement to give audiences a show filled with country and gospel music, as well as special appearances from rock-n-roll favorites like Elvis, Dolly Parton, The Jackson 5, and more. The show begins at 8 p.m. and is followed by a Moonlite Bar-B-Q breakfast buffet at midnight. Tickets are on sale now: Adults $20-$25, adult breakfast $15, or combo for $35-$40; Children 12 and under $10 for the show, $10 for the breakfast, $20 for show/breakfast combo. The Pangea Café will host a New Year’s Eve Costume Ball with a ‘Murder Mystery Dinner Theater’ featuring a live tribute performance by Hereward the Wake playing Pink Floyd’s ‘Dark Side of the Moon’. Doors open 8 p.m. Dec. 31 and won’t close until 2 a.m. Jan. 1. The ‘Mystery Dinner Theater’s’ performance will be a tribute to ‘Monty Python and the Holy Grail’ and will begin in the South Room at 8:45 p.m. Prizes will be given out for best costumes and a chef will be serving up delicious entrees. The Costume Ball will start at 9 p.m. and the tribute show is set for 11:15 p.m. Tickets for adults are $35 in advance and $40 at the door. Guests can get a team together and test their trivia skills 7:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. Jan. 2 at Gambrinus Libation Emporium. For more information, contact: (270) 685-5464.

Kids and families can attend ‘Saturday Morning Live’ 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Jan. 4 at the Daviess County Public Library. There will be self-guided fun and educational activities with a focus on literacy and school readiness. For more information, go to: www.dcplibrary.org.
