snow driving1MADISONVILLE, Ky. (2/7/14) — According to Madisonville Mayor David Jackson's office, the recent adverse weather events have placed a higher demand on the Transportation Department's road salt supply.

According to a press release issued by the mayor's office, the city road department's suppliers have indicated that there will not be shipments of salt in the near future.

As a result, the city of Madisonville is implementing a priority snow route plan.

First priority streets include Arch Street (east), Center (east and west), Clinic Drive, North Franklin Street, Hospital Drive (Main to railroad tracks), Kentucky Avenue (north and south), Island Ford Road (bridge only), Laffoon Street, McCoy Avenue, Main Street (north and south), North Street and Princeton Road.

Second priority streets include Arch Street (west), Broadway (east and west), Grapevine Road, Hall Street, Madison Square Drive, South Madison Avenue, Murray Street, W. Noel Avenue, Park Avenue, Parkwood Drive, Pride Avenue, Seminary Street (north and south) and Scott Street (north and south).

Plowing city streets will continue when conditions allow and application of road salt will resume when supplies are restored, according to the press release.
