POWDERLY, Ky (3/4/14) — “I was shocked. I’ve never seen it before!”

That was Mark Pogue’s reaction to his new dealership gaining national recognition.

Chrysler LLC posted a picture of the new Pogue Chrysler Dodge Jeep dealership on their national infrastructure website.

“This is the first dealership in the local area to be featured on Chrysler,” said Pogue.

According to Marla Pogue Divine, marketing director for Pogue Group, Chrysler has been telling other Chrysler dealers in the U.S. that, "this is what a Chrysler dealership is supposed to look like."

Mark Pogue said he is flattered and proud of the recognition, and he is pleased to be a positive story about Muhlenberg County, the small community of Powderly and western Kentucky.

Pogue said he has received email and phone calls from all over the U.S.

“I have people calling from all over and want to tour the dealership,” he said. “One guy from Atlanta is coming up this weekend.”

He has talked with one dealer in Los Angles, California several times.

Pogue told SurfKY News that he spent five years planning the Pogue-Plex, actually called the Pogue Auto Plex, with two dealerships plus D&P Auto, which sells used cars.

In addition to the planning, Pogue was onsite overseeing the construction. He wanted quality and value in his new facility.

During the construction, Mark Pogue began experiencing pain in his feet. It turned out that the rocks put down as base during the construction were bruising his feet because he was walking on the large rocks so much.

So it appears that Powderly, Ky. will become somewhat of a tourist destination as dealers, architects and builders journey to witness for themselves the Pogue-Plex, the anomaly that Mark Pogue built.
