Housing hudUNION COUNTY, Ky. (4/11/13) – Union County Fiscal Court is seeking to identify low- to moderate-income residents who have homes in need of significant repairs.

GRADD is working with local officials to submit a Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) application to fund the rehabilitation of ten existing houses within Union County.

“All Union County citizens deserve affordable, safe, and sanitary housing,” said Judge/Executive Jody Jenkins. “And this grant would go a long way towards that goal.”

To be eligible for assistance, local homeowners must: reside in the structure proposed for rehabilitation, possess a deed/title in the name of the homeowner, and meet income guidelines (e.g., below $43,301 annual gross income for a household of four).

Applications will be accepted through Friday, April 19th.

CDBG is a competitive grant process, so any assistance is contingent upon the Fiscal Court securing funding. Homes will be inspected to determine the scope of necessary repairs and to establish a potential client prioritization list.

The Kentucky Department for Local Government (DLG) administers approximately $25 million annually from the U.S. Department of Housing & Urban Development’s (HUD) CDBG program, with $2.8 million allocated specifically for housing projects across the Commonwealth.

For more details or to request an application, please contact Union County First community development director Garrick Thompson at (270) 389-9600.
