ruby driveMADISONVILLE, Ky. (8/5/14) — McDonald's and Chuckle's are two business that are definitely planning on having new business locations in the Mid-Town Commons area off Center Street in Madisonville.

Other parties are interested and in talks with property owner Don Ershig but no announcements can be made at this time, according to Madisonville Mayor David Jackson.

Jackson said McDonald's will locate adjacent to Denny's on the connector road now named Ruby Drive.

"Groundbreaking for McDonald's is anticipated to be Monday," said Jackson. "I don't know their exact completion date but I know they're trying to get in by the end of October."

Chuckles, a gas and convenience store, will locate at the corner of Ruby Drive and East Center Street with access from both streets.

"We're really happy to see these businesses moving into the Mid-Town Commons area," said Jackson. "We're also really happy with the level of interest in that area and believe it will really start taking off."

For McDonald's, being near the I69 Breathitt Parkway should be an advantage. While the golden arches won't sit too high in the sky due to stringent sign ordinances for the Ruby Drive area, they will be visible from I69.
