flag soldier2 300MUHLENBERG COUNTY, Ky. (5/10/13) – The Muhlenberg County Extension Homemakers and the Wendell H. Ford Training Center will host a Military Appreciation Day Saturday, May 18th, from 8 to 10 a.m.

The event will be held at the training center to inform soldiers about some of the services available to them in our community from area businesses and anyone else that would like to be a part of the event, according to Mary Devine, a volunteer with the Extension service.

"This is also a great way to help show our county's support for their service to our country. It's all come together by us working through the extension office. We just want to let the soldiers there know the county is a good place to live," Devine told SurfKY News Reporters. "At this time the event is only open to military personal at the Ford Center but we are planning another event in the fall open to military. That's in the planning stages and will be a much bigger event. Col Palmer really wants to be involved with the community and has been a great help."

Representatives from various community organizations and businesses will be on hand and will be able to interact with the soldiers as well as provide information about their services.
