BOWLING GREEN, KY (12/12/12) – The City of Bowling Green has received the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award. The award was given for the FY13 budget from the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada.
According to the Bowling Green municipal website, “The award represents a significant achievement by Bowling Green. It reflects the commitment of our governing body and staff to meeting the highest principles of government budgeting.”
The GFOA is a nonprofit professional association and its Distinguished Budget Presentation Award Program is the only national awards program in government budgeting.
The award is given to a city that satisfies nationally recognized guidelines for effective budget presentation. These guidelines are designed to assess how well an entity’s budget serves as a policy document, a financial plan, an operations guide and a communications device. Budget documents must be rated “proficient” in all four categories, and in the 14 mandatory criteria within those categories to receive the award.
