BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (2/28/13) – On February 26, at approximately 1:41 PM, Warren County Sheriff's Office Deputy initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle at the intersection of Veteran’s Memorial Boulevard.
The vehicle had committed numerous traffic violations. Upon traffic stop, 28-year-old Daniel Nunez, of Bowling Green, was identified as a passenger in the vehicle.
The Sheriff's Deputy detected the odor of marijuana coming from Nunez person. Nunez was asked to exit the vehicle. Upon his exiting, he admitted to having marijuana on his person and would not comply with the deputy's commands. Nunez began to resist arrest and attempting to fight with the deputy. A struggle continued on the ground near the vehicle when a passerby stopped and assisted the deputy in subduing Nunez.
During the altercation, a loaded handgun fell out of Nunez's pocket. It was later determined that the firearm was entered stolen by the Warren County Sheriff's Office through a recent burglary investigation. Nunez was illegally in possession of multiple types of drugs and a large quantity of U.S. currency.
Nunez was lodged in the Warren County Regional Jail. The investigation continues.
Nunez's charges include Trafficking in Controlled Substance First Degree (Methamphetamine), Trafficking Controlled Substance Third Degree, Receiving Stolen Property (Firearm), Assault Third Degree (Police Officer), Possession of Marijuana, Resisting Arrest, and Fleeing or Evading Police Second Degree (On Foot).
