“The sting has been highly successful and, although street level dealers were targeted, not all of the arrest involved trafficking,” said Sheriff Curtis McGehee.

Lori Blakeley, Director of the Pennyrile Narcotics Task Force, told Surfky News that today's roundup concentrated on Muhlenberg County only.

"The cases were made here in Muhlenberg County, and were a joint effort between the Muhlenberg County Sheriff's Department and the task force. We are finding anything from methamphetamine to prescription medication, and we're still not sure at this time what other charges could be pending." Blakeley explained.

Blakeley added that even with the combined efforts of law enforcement and concerned citizens, the number of repeat drug offenders shows little sign of slowing down in the county.

"I have been with the task force for going on 24 years now, and it does seem like it's a revolving door at times. We see generations of the same families coming through." Blakeley said.

Sheriff Curtis McGehee and Blakeley both voiced concern over the fact that what is known as "one-step meth labs" are an ever-growing problem.

"The last two meth labs we've discovered just in the past week were the small scale labs. These are call 'Shake and Bake' labs." McGehee noted.

These allow those involved to produce meth faster, in a smaller container.

Blakeley emphasized that the public can continue to help in the fight against drugs by being aware of neighbors who have a large number of people in and out of their residence for a very short amount of time.
