Chamber Launches Leadership South Central Kentucky

bg chamber 300BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (5/20/13) – The Bowling Green Area Chamber of Commerce today opened applications for "Leadership South Central Kentucky," a new and advanced civic leadership immersion training "boot camp," modeled upon the Chamber's highly-sought Leadership Bowling Green program.

"If you liked Leadership Bowling Green, you'll love Leadership South Central Kentucky," said Brad Howard, Chair of the Bowling Green Area Chamber Board of Directors, adding, "Past participants of Leadership Bowling Green will experience advanced leadership programming, and will be impressed by the program and events in which they will participate."

Among the advanced features of Leadership South Central Kentucky, many of the day-long sessions will be led by nationally-recognized FranklinCovey® team facilitators, covering such topics as:

The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People - how to apply the time-proven business leadership principles of Dr. Stephen Covey at work and in personal life.

The Speed of Trust; The one thing that changes everything - how ethics and reputation dramatically impact your brand and your organization.

"The value of just these features alone is worth the $1,100 tuition fee," Howard noted. "Often a participant's tuition is paid by their employer as an investment in their career; therefore from a pure professional development standpoint, the Chamber is once again delivering a fantastic value."

To offer a substantial and distinctive program, open to promising business and civic leaders from across the ten-county region, Leadership South Central Kentucky participants will experience "Simulated Society," an immersive political-economic role-playing exercise, and exposure to the DISC workplace personality assessment to reveal their individual leadership style.

"Leadership South Central Kentucky works hand-in-hand with Leadership Bowling Green and with other community's leadership programs," Howard observed. "We're equipping our businesses and communities with nationally-proven tools and focusing on innovative solutions to regional opportunities, along with the team-building and peer-networking benefits that have made Leadership Bowling Green popular for more than 25 years."

Leadership South Central Kentucky's "pilot class" will be limited to 25 participants, with preference given to recent graduates of civic leadership training programs. The sessions will start in August 2013 and occur on the second Thursday of each month, except for October which will take place on the 3rd Thursday of the month to avoid school fall breaks. Participants will graduate in July 2014.

Applications must be filed no later than June 14, 2013. Forms are available for download from the Chamber's web site, www.bgchamber.com
