Annual Lake Malone Car, Truck, and Tractor Show

lake malone 300MUHLENBERG COUNTY, Ky. (8/19/13) – Lake Malone State Park was again the scenic venue for the 5th Annual Lake Malone Car, Truck, and Tractor Show on Friday & Saturday, June 16 & 17, 2013. As always, entrance to the event was free.

The weather, which has not cooperated much this summer for weekend events, made no exception - Friday and Saturday was overcast to partly cloudy and the threat of rain was ever present. However, the possibility of a little rain didn’t dampen the spirits of the diehard show enthusiasts, be they participants or spectators.

On display were all types, makes, and models of machines: lawnmowers, tractors, trucks, motorcycles, and cars. There was an electric tricycle which silently circled the show grounds and looked suspiciously like a little yellow street rod, and a working grist mill churned out fresh cornmeal while you waited – white or yellow corn, your pleasure. Vendors were present selling food and other goods – antique bottles, car parts, bobbins, tools, and of course, tee shirts.

To the delight of the children, the Butler County Antique Engine & Tractor Club brought their “train” – plastic barrels fitted with seats and wheels, strung together, each flying the colors and names of well-known and well-loved machines like “International Harvester” or “John Deere”, and all pulled by a large lawn mower. The club gave free rides to the kids (and a few adults) all weekend.
