Outdoors with Big Country — Women Make Presence Known in Great Outdoors

girl deerKENTUCKY (11/29/13) — Move on over gentlemen, women are making their presence know in the great outdoors. They are also taking some very nice trophy bucks.

It's not just a man's sport anymore and that's a good thing.

I have introduced my wife to fishing and hunting. Several other men have also done the same with their wives.

There's a good feeling to introduce anyone to hunting whether it's a young boy or girl. But it's more special if you can share time together with your wife or daughter.

There are more women in the outdoors now than ever. There's even a special line of camouflage clothing for them so that they can be more comfortable and look great while in the woods.

I'd like to say a huge, “Congratulations, to all the women that were successful this deer season.”

Some of those women include Kathy Whitaker of Greenville, who has Extreme Taxidermy. She took a great Kentucky Velvet Buck as well as a really good Kansas Buck.

Stephanie Erickson Whildharber of western Kentucky took a giant Whitetail Buck that will score near 170 on the Boone and Crockett Records Book scale.

All for the excitement and experience that we all share as hunters, I'd like to say, “Congratulations to all the women of the outdoors.”
