southcentral building 300BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (5/1/14) — Jason Hohmann and John Austin Hatfield, students of Southcentral Kentucky Community and Technical College, were selected as members of the Kentucky Community and Technical College System's 2014 All-Academic Team.

Jason Hohmann of Glasgow is a Culinary Arts student seeking his Associate Degree in hopes of one day becoming a certified executive chef and restaurateur. Jason was able to realize this dream after a twenty year career in the printing industry.

Jason has also served our community by offering his culinary skills to various fundraisers; the fundraiser held at Crossroads Life Center for expecting mothers is one example.

Since beginning a new career path at SKYCTC, Jason has earned many awards and honors. He received a scholarship for his participation in Chef Camp, awarded a trophy for the title of BBQ Champion, and was selected by Chef Michael Riggs to present at the new student orientation for the beginning of the fall semester.

John Austin Hatfield of Bowling Green is pursuing an Associate of Arts degree with the intent of transferring to WKU and one day earning a law degree. Austin’s goal is to practice law for a minimum of ten years before ultimately holding public office.

Austin was elected Vice President of the Student Government Association for the Fall 2013- Spring 2014 term, where his political knowledge aided in editing and correcting the SGA Constitution. Austin has been influential in our local community and beyond. Most notably, he served as an intern for U.S. Senator Rand Paul from July 2013-January 2014. Austin has also volunteered his services for other projects such as the re-election campaign for Senator Mitch McConnell, the Crisis Ministries soup kitchen in South Carolina, and the Bowling Green Academy Fair.

As a SKYCTC student, Austin has been awarded to the President’s List every semester since his enrollment. He was also honored as a Kentucky Colonel by Governor Steve Beshear in 2012. At SKYCTC, Austin was the winner of Campus Constitution Day Jeopardy because of his outstanding knowledge of our government.
