Collusion with Injuries Involves Two Men, A Light Pole and Two Cars

Warren county sheriff badgeBOWLING GREEN, Ky. (5/5/14) — According to a Warren County Sheriff's report, the Warren County Sheriff’s Office received a report of an injury collision at the intersection of Scottsville Road and Plano Road Sunday, May 5.

Upon arrival, deputies observed a white passenger vehicle partially off the roadway which had struck a utility light pole located at the corner of the Martin Auto Mart at 5449 Scottsville Road. The operator of the vehicle, Daniel Napier, 19, of Scottsville and the passenger, William Helson, 19, of Scottsville were both outside of the vehicle when deputies arrived.

It appeared that the vehicle was traveling North on Scottsville Road towards Bowling Green. The vehicle then veered to the left and crossed over both the southbound lanes of Scottsville road. The vehicle then struck a curb, went off the roadway and struck a large utility light pole. The impact of the vehicle caused the light pole to come out of the concrete and fall into the parking lot of Martin Auto Mart. Two vehicles belonging to Martin Auto Mart were damaged due to the fallen light pole.

Napier had visible injuries to his face but refused medical treatment at the scene. He was later treated at the Medical Center and then flown to Vanderbilt Hospital in Nashville for internal injuries.

Helson, also the owner of the vehicle, complained of neck pain and was transported to the Medical Center in Bowling Green for evaluation.

Deputies located a clear plastic bag lying next to the vehicle on the roadway with several white pills inside. Helson stated that the pills belonged to him. Also, drug paraphernalia was found in the passenger compartment of the vehicle.

Napier was cited and charged with Operating a Motor Vehicle Under the Influence of Alcohol/Drugs/.08 or greater 1st Offense.

Helson was charged with Possession of Controlled Substance 3rd Degree and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

Both subjects were cited due to their injuries.

Investigation is pending and additional charges are expected.
