BOWLING GREEN, KY (1/24/12) – On Jan. 20, a Scott Waste Management Employee contacted police officials regarding a dog he had found on the 200 block of Melshed Ferry Road. The employee had stated that it appeared as if the dog was injured by being pulled by a chain.
Through further investigation by Animal Control Deputies, the dog had obvious signs of possibly being drug by a vehicle. The dog had suffered extensive damage to its head, sides, and chest. The dog was the taken to the Bowling Green Warren County Humane Society for treatment.
On Monday, Jan. 23, 2012, the Warren County Sheriff’s Office stated that an arrest had been made in the case. Officials stated that 22-year-old Shane Helson of Richardsville was arrested. Helson has been charged with Torturing of Dog or Cat, a Class Felony. The dog is still undergoing treatment and will remain in the custody of Greystone Animal Hospital.
