WEBSTER COUNTY, KY (3/27/12) – Sebree City Council met in short session at a special called meeting on Monday, March 19.
During the meeting council members approved the second and final reading of a water and sewer rate increase for city customers, and voted in favor of changing the council’s next meeting date from April 2 to April 9.
Sebree City Clerk Mary Thomas previously stated the rate proposal as presented would increase the city’s flat rate for water and sewer by $2 each, bringing both services to a new flat rate of $18.25. The flat rate covers customers for the first 2,000 gallons of water usage. She said the increase also raises the cost by 58 cents per 1,000 gallons above the flat rate usage. (It was noted after the meeting that the 58 cent per-usage rate includes both sewer and water.)
At a special meeting of the council on Monday 12 during which members approved the first reading of the ordinance, Sebree Mayor Ron Todd said that without the rate hike, the city would lose approximately $2,000 a year.
