WEBSTER COUNTY, KY (5/2/12) – The following is your weekly update of law enforcement activity in and around the Webster County area.
Providence Police Chief Brent McDowell reported the following arrests:
Mon., April 30, 9:00 a.m.
•Skyler Buie, 21, Providence, was cited to court on April 23 on charges of reckless driving and speeding.
•Javarus Webb, 20, Providence, was cited to court on April 25 on charges of no or expired registration plates, failure to produce an insurance card, and license to be in possession.
•Carlton Clark, 26, Nortonville, was cited to court on April 28 on charges of speeding, failure to maintain required insurance/security, and no or expired registration receipt.
All subjects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
Tues., April 10, 6:51 p.m.
An accident occurred on Coleman Ave. in Providence. According to Providence Police, Brandon Galbraith, 25, Providence, was driving south on S. Finley St. toward the intersection with Coleman Ave. when his brakes apparently failed, causing him to continue through the intersection, where he collided with Billy Montgomery, 48, Clay, who was driving east on Coleman Ave.
No injuries were reported. Galbraith’s 1995 Chevrolet Conventional Cab sustained very minor damage. Montgomery’s 1989 Dodge Ram pick-up sustained moderate damage.
Wed., April 8, 9:53 a.m.
An accident occurred on Westerfield Drive in Providence. According to Providence Police, Harold Penrod, 71, Clay, was driving west when he apparently passed out, crossed into the eastbound lane of Westerfield Drive, and ran off the road. Penrod’s 2004 Chevrolet Trail Blazer then went down an embankment and struck a tree on the Providence Municipal Golf Course grounds. Authorities said the vehicle traveled about 25 yards after leaving the highway. Penrod and a passenger, Peggy Penrod, 71, Clay, went by ambulance to Regional Medical Center in Madisonville for treatment. Penrod’s vehicle sustained moderate to severe damage. Providence EMS and Webster County EMS responded to the scene.
Sun., March 25, 4:50 p.m.
An accident occurred at a private parking lot near an apartment complex in Providence. According to Providence Police, Joseph Newill, 38, Providence notified authorities that his 1992 Plymouth Acclaim had sustained very minor damage from an unknown vehicle while he was parked at the apartment complex. No injuries were reported.
Sun., March 25, 7:00 p.m.
An accident occurred on Williams St. in Providence. According to Providence Police, David Jackson, 40, Providence, was backing from a private driveway when he apparently struck a parked vehicle belonging to Michael Woolfork, 51, Providence, as Woolfork was parked on the side of Williams St. No injuries were reported. Jackson’s 1997 Chevrolet Conventional Cab sustained very minor damage, as did Woolfork’s 2000 Cadillac STS.
Jailer Terry Elder reported trusties worked a total of 4,610 hours during the week of April 22 to April 28.
Jail maintenance - 3,616 hours; Webster County Road Department - 448 hours; Webster County Water Department - 129 hours; City of Sebree - 128 hours; City of Providence - 256 hours; road sides - 80 hours; dog warden - 52 hours; City of Dixon - 99 hours; City of Clay - 8 hours.
Jail population as of Monday, April 30: Total inmates - 262; county - 25; state - 237.
