WEBSTER COUNTY, Ky. (2/20/13) - The City of Slaughters monthly board meeting was held Tuesday, February 12, 2013, with members taking a moment of silence in honor of retired Mayor Donald Winstead who passed away recently.
This was the first meeting for new city commissioners Mickey Duncan and Kenneth Wells, who were appointed at the January meeting to fill seats left vacant after no candidates ran for them during the November election.
Wells made a motion that the city allow use of town property for Tractor Days, an event one city resident is trying to get organized, and to open negotiation with entities wishing to sponsor the event.
The city’s cemetery fund remains in limbo as Mayor Jeff Coomes waits for a meeting with Fifth Third bank to see if the money in the fund can be moved within the fund.
Mayor Coomes requested additional funds for waterline improvement, but commissioner Wayne Stallard made a motion that no additional funds be granted because the grant had already been closed. The other commissioners agreed.
