WEBSTER COUNTY, Ky. (8/21/13) - The following is your weekly update of law enforcement activity in and around the Webster County area.
Webster County Sheriff Frankie Springfield reported the following accidents:
Tue., Aug. 6, 2:51 a.m.
Sheriff Frankie Springfield responded to an accident on KY 270, five miles east of Clay. According to the report, Bryan Adams, 29 of Princeton, was traveling east bound on highway 270 when a deer ran into the path of his 2007 Ford Focus. He swerved to miss the animal, but his vehicle dropped off the shoulder, going into a ditch and striking an earthen embankment. The vehicle proceeded back onto the roadway, spun around and came to rest facing south in the westbound lane. There were no injuries reported, but the vehicle was severely damaged and had to be towed.
Tue., Aug. 6, 5:14 a.m.
Sheriff Frankie Springfield responded to an accident on KY 630, three miles south of Dixon. According to the report, Verl Scheer, 29 of Dixon, was traveling south bound on 630 in a 2004 Saturn Ion when he reported meeting a vehicle with one headlight out. According to Scheer, he initially thought the vehicle was a motorcycle, realizing too late that it was not and that the other vehicle was over the center line. The driver of the other vehicle, Jeremy Dehart, 26 of Madisonville, reported that Scheer was “way over the center line”. According to the report, according to tire marks and gouges on the roadway, the vehicles sideswiped in the northbound lane and then skidded out of control. There were no injuries reported, but both vehicles were severely damaged.
Thu., Aug. 8, 3:14 p.m.
Deputy Jay Workins responded to an accident on Watkins Sebree Road in Sebree. According to the report, Bonnie Melton, 40 of Sebree, was stopped at a four way stop. When she started to proceed through the intersection she reported that the 2006 Ford Taurus driven by Ellon Benson, 35 of Sebree failed to slow down or stop. Benson reported that she observed Melton proceed through the intersection without stopping. Both vehicles swerved but were unable to avoid collision. There were no witnesses, but the responding officer noted that tire marks in the intersection indicated that Melton failed to yield the right of way. There were no injuries reported, and both vehicles left under their own power.
Webster County Grand Jury
The Webster County Grand Jury was in session on Tuesday, August 13, 2013 and handed down the following indictments and decisions:
•Mary R. Almon, 56 of Nebo, was indicted on charges of Attempted Theft of a Controlled Substance, a class A misdemeanor and Theft of a Controlled Substance (2 counts), a class D felony.
•Quenton Seville Hall, 31 of Louisville, was indicted on charges 1st Degree Promoting Contraband, a class D felony.
•Cheyenne C. Hamblin, 23 of Providence, was indicted on a charge of 2nd Degree Fleeing or Evading Police (on foot), a class A misdemeanor. A charge of 1st Degree Robbery was reduced to Theft by Unlawful Taking by Complicity (over $500), a class D felony.
•Tosha L. Hamblin, 22 of Providence, was indicted on a charge of Unlawful Taking by Complicity (over $500), a class D felony, which was reduced from 2nd Degree Robbery.
•Patricia A. Hoover, 30 of Providence, was indicted on a charge of 1st Degree Promoting Contraband, a class D felony.
•Robert D. Long, 59 of Wheatcroft, was indicted on a five counts of 2nd Degree Sexual Abuse of Victim Under 12 Years of Age, a class C felony.
•Christopher McKay, 77 of Providence, was indicted on a charge of Receiving Stolen Property (under $10,000), a class D felony.
•Kris Elliott Rollins, 39 of Hopkinsville, was indicted on three counts of 1st Degree Wanton Endangerment, a class D felony, and 3rd Degree Terroristic Threatening, a class A misdemeanor.
•Bryant Stone, 18 of Clay, was indicted on charges of Theft by Unlawful Taking/Disp-Firearm, a class D felony, Theft of a Legend Drug less than $300 in value, a class D felony and Attempting to Traffic in Legend Drug, a class A misdemeanor.
•Richard Winn and Dawn Winn to Jesse Jost and Marilyn Jost, property in Webster County.
•Stephen Woodring and Jessye Lynn Woodring to Derrick Leath and Kerri Leath, property in Webster County.
•Robert McKee and Camilla McKee to Ricky Caraway, property in Webster County.
•Donna Glore and Ron Glore to Tommy Denton, property in Webster County.
•Howard Langston and Rebecca Langston, and Polly Dickson and Robert Dickson to George Robert Nall Jr and Ylonda Lee Nall, property in Webster County.
•Esther I. Jackson to Loria E. Leon, property in Webster County.
• Dorothy Renee McConnel, 19 of Slaughters to Mickey Lewis Mitchell, 21 of Slaughters.
•Malorie Lou-Ellen Winstead, 19 of Dixon to Andrew Clarance Morrow Montgomery, 21 of Dixon.
