Kentucky Native Advances to Top 12

america talent 300OWENSBORO, Ky. (9/6/13) - America's Got Talent aired the semi-final round of the competition on Tuesday featuring Appalachian Kentucky contestant, Jimmy Rose.

The former coal miner took the stage dressed in a blue jeans, boots and a button down as he performed the Garth Brooks hit, "If Tomorrow Never Comes."

"Tomorrow may never come and if people would take the time and think like that, they would live their lives a little differently," Rose said. "I enjoyed that song; I sing it a lot."

Although Rose is content with his performance, the judges had mixed reviews. Judge Howard Stern described the performance as "nice" and "good," but also thought it lacked passion.

According to Rose, not everyone enjoys the same performances and the judges are entitled to their opinion.

"I respect their decisions and their comments," Rose said. "You have to learn how to take their advice and use it to the best of your knowledge, build off of it and make your next performance that much better."

The following night, on Wednesday, Jimmy found himself center stage awaiting the results of America's votes.

"My stomach was in knots, man, he recalled. "I was hoping to hear my name called."

Then the host, Nick Cannon, delivered the results advancing Rose on to the next round. And if tomorrow never comes, Rose wants to simply tell his fans "thanks."

According to Rose, it is the people that make you who you are.

"I don't care how big you get in life or how much success you have, it's the people that stand behind you that make you successful, Rose stated. "Don't ever let stuff go to your head and forget who you are. Without my fans, I wouldn't be here and I wouldn't be going on the next level. I give credit where it's due, and it's to the fans at this point."

America's Got Talent will air on Tuesday and Wednesday nights at 9/8c.
