MUHLENBERG COUNTY, Ky. (11/11/13) — Saturday's sunny skies made for a perfect flight for Young Eagles Day, a program that allows children ages 7 to 17 a chance to fly in an airplane. More than a hundred parents and eager young flyers were on hand.
Members of the Experimental Aircraft Association Chapter No. 1184 volunteer their time several times a year to give young people a chance to get a bird's eye view of Muhlenberg County.
Danny Walker, Chairman of the Muhlenberg County Airport Board and a member of the local EAA Chapter told Surfky News that he and the other members of EAA put on the Young Eagles' Day to help spread the joy of flying to those who may have never been in a plane.
"It's something we do for love of aviation and our desire to spread the love of flying to the next generation." Walker said.
Jonathan Davis, Sr. brought along his son Jonathan Davis, Jr. along with Kylee, and Shaylee Davis. They all said they hoped to see birds, clouds and houses.
Upon their return to the ground, the youngsters were all smiles, with Jonathan Davis, Jr. saying that his first trip in an airplane was "awesome".
