WEBSTER COUNTY, KY (11/9/11) – A 43-year-old Providence man is in custody on a $1 million bond at the Webster County Detention Center facing charges of murder, attempted murder and first degree burglary following the deaths of a 43-year-old Providence woman and a 39-year-old Clay man late Monday night.
According to Kentucky State Police, authorities received a request for assistance from the Providence Police Department regarding a shooting and stabbing within the city limits. Upon their arrival at the home of Erica Hutchason on Highland Ave., state police said they learned the suspect, Michael Musarra, had allegedly entered the residence and shot Hutchason. Authorities alleged he then stabbed Culp before fleeing the scene.
Hutchason was transported to Regional Medical Center in Madisonville for treatment and later flown to St. Mary’s in Evansville, IN, where she died. Culp died at Regional Medical Center.
Authorities said Musarra contacted Henderson County Dispatch to turn himself in, and was apprehended at his mother’s house in Robards by troopers from Kentucky State Police posts 2 and 16 about 90 minutes later. He was arrested there without incident.
KSP Post’s 2 investigation is continuing. Providence Police Department, Webster County Sheriff’s Department, Webster County EMS, Webster County CHR, Henderson County Sheriff’s Department, and KSP Post 16 assisted.
