HENDERSON, Ky. (4/19/13) – On April 17, the Henderson County High School Future Farmers of America (FFA) competed at the 61st Annual Murray State FFA Field Day held at the William Cherry Exposition Center in Murray, KY. Forty nine (49) schools and 1,300 students representing Kentucky, Tennessee, and Illinois competed.
HCHS FFA placed 11th overall. The chapter took 30 FFA members to compete in various Career Development events.
Students who competed include:
Livestock Judging Team- Luke Watson, David Snow, Quinton Stovall, Griffin Thurby, Austin Wildman (placed 20th); Horse Judging Team- Callie Jones, Kayln Tapp, Allison Johnston (placed 28th); Soil Judging Team – Jared Melloy, Issac Boeglin, Michaela Boeglin, Luke Wilson (placed 3rd); Floriculture Team- Sierra Downey and Macey Klauder (placed 19th); Nursery Team – Cody Williams, Mason Sauer, Cody McGuire (placed 13th); Small Animal Team- JT Payne, Jessica Murch, Ashleigh Dodge, Missy Pearson (placed 2nd); JT Payne received the high individual of the contest; Poultry Judging Team- Bryce Williams, Jacey King, Hunter Russin, Allen Yates (placed 11th), Hunter Russin received 3rd high individual of the contest; Seed Identification Contest- JD Larew (placed 10th); Auctioneering Contest – Zack Vaughn (placed 11th); Horsemanship Contest- Kelsey Nobles (placed 4th); Tractor Driving Contest- Jake Polivick (placed 6th); and Tool Identification Contest- James Royster (placed 8th).
